About four days ago I was praying, “How do you want me to help each of my friends individually? How do you want me to serve my customers, my neighbors? How do you want me to serve you?”
Suddenly John’s comment popped into my head, “We love because first He loved us.” That became “We serve because first He served us.”
That, quite naturally, led to the question, “How is He serving me?” I’m sure, a 1,000 ways. But I’m unaware. I’m not giving Him credit. So I prayed, “Father, open the eyes of my heart to see how You are serving me.” And I’ve been repeating that question for four days.
This morning I awoke at 5:40, and by 5:48 I had the answer – “I’m leading you, Terry, into a holy blend of healthy, wealthy, wise, and powerfully loving. I’m serving you, loving you, by lifting you to Christian maturity.”
Remembering the quality of the wine Jesus made from water, and that some of the finest wines are actually a very carefully balanced blend of several different kinds of grapes, I said, “Thank you, Lord, for improving the blend of my being.” His aim and way is to produce only the absolute BEST!
This is how God is serving me – He is lifting me out of the darkness of this world by cleansing me, by healing me, and empowering me to be what He created me to be. He is transforming me from a crippled weakling into a powerful, glorious beacon through whom He is shining His light into the world.
He is inspiring me by breathing into my soul the spirit of life.
This is how our Shepherd is serving me.
This was a cool confirmation. When I was walking with God today I felt like he told me “it’s easy to off track but it’s easy to get on track as well. It only takes 4 days to change.” And then I read your blog and you talked about asking God for 4 days to open your eyes.
Is there anything more wonderful that being cleansed, healed, grown, and reconciled with our Father by our Shepherd?
What Jesus did, and continues to do, is what hallows our Creator’s name.
