I sent this to a sister who, after reading Our Shepherd Teaches Me a Lesson, longed for that same peace.
That peace that you long for is yours more and more as you accept what David knew,
Only God gives inward peace, and I depend on him.
God alone is the mighty rock that keeps me safe, and he is the fortress where I feel secure. Psa 62:5-6 (CEV)(A psalm by David.)
You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need.
You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water,
and you refresh my life. You are true to your name, and you lead me along the right paths.
I may walk through valleys as dark as death, but I won’t be afraid. You are with me, and your shepherd’s rod makes me feel safe.
You treat me to a feast, while my enemies watch. You honor me as your guest, and you fill my cup until it overflows.
Your kindness and love will always be with me each day of my life, and I will live forever in your house, LORD. Psa 23:1-6 (CEV)And this is everlasting life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. Joh 17:3 (LITV)
As you get to know God better and better, your peace will grow, because your confidence/faith in Him will grow. If you are grateful to Him each time He comes through for you in difficult situations, your confidence in His caring about you will grow. And that gratitude is the result of you’re focusing on Him, seeing Him in action. Experience, of course, takes time.
But you don’t have to personally experience the many ways in which God loves us. If you regularly spend time with your brothers and sisters, you get to hear all their experiences of God in action. That way you benefit from both your and their being cared for in God’s grace.
May you live in His grace a little more consciously each day, my sister.
