The Bible tells of man’s creation, his disconnect from God and the consequences thereof, and his ultimate restoration into oneness with God.
“It is a reliable historical document written by eyewitnesses during the lifetime of other eyewitnesses reporting supernatural events that took place in fulfillment of specific prophecies claiming their writings were Devine rather than of human in origin. The Bible contains 66 books written in 3 different languages by over 40 different authors, many of whom never met one another, in a time span of over 1500 years with a message that is completely congruent.” – Voddie Boucham
Here are the highlights:
- 1) God is identified as the source of everything. Genesis chap’s 1 and 2
- 2) His only begotten Son was the means by which God created everything. “…who is the image of the invisible God, the First-born of all creation. For all things were created in Him, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through Him and for Him.” Col 1:15-16 MKJV
- 3) And God created man in His (spiritual) image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female. Gen 1:27 MKJV
- 4) Man stepped out of integrity with his Creator, thereby ceased to be “in His image,” and was ejected from the Garden of Eden in which man could have eaten of the tree of life and thereby lived without ever dying. Genesis chap 3
- Most of the rest of the Bible tells about the painful growth of the body of humanity that is disconnected from its life source, God, and so dies.
- Throughout both the Old and New Testaments God shows Himself to be both a God of justice and of mercy, and promises that there will be a restoring of mankind to oneness with Himself.
- Throughout both the O & NT we are also shown, by means of many miracles, that there is a whole dimension of reality of which we are ignorant.
- 5) The NT tells about the appearance of Jesus by means of whom humanity would be restored to unity with God. “Then Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.” Joh 10:7 MKJV “The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Joh 10:10 MKJV
- And he showed me a pure river of Water of Life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of its street, and of the river, from here and from there, 4) was the Tree of Life, which bore twelve fruits, each yielding its fruit according to one month. And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Rev 22:1-2 MKJV
- And the Bible shows us the ultimate result of that reunification– “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away … And I heard a great voice out of Heaven saying, 3) Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. And there will be no more death, nor mourning, nor crying out, nor will there be any more pain; for the first things passed away.” Rev 21:1-4 MKJV
- Peace at last. And, once Jesus has restored humanity to its originally intended perfection He hands the whole kit and caboodle back over to His and our Father, God. 2) “for it is right for Him to reign until He has put all the enemies under His feet. The last enemy made to cease is death. For He put all things under His feet. But when He says that all things have been put under His feet, it is plain that it excepts Him who has put all things under Him. But when all things are subjected to Him, then 1) the Son Himself also will be subject to Him who has subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all things in all.” 1Co 15:25-28 MKJV
