“You must be holy because I am Holy.”
1 Pet 1:16
God was saying that we must be like him in every way. That is, we must completely replace the spirit of the world that permeates our being with his spirit.
1 Pet 1:14-15
In practical terms, that means that we must be one with him and with one another as Jesus is one with his Father, “I in you and you in me, and I in them.”
John 17:11, 21-23
The only way to do that is to take Jesus’ yoke upon ourselves and let him teach us to love as he loves. (Mat 11:28-30; 22:37-39) That is the only way we can be transformed into the image of Christ Jesus (Rom 8:29) and thereby be holy as he and his Father are holy.
