“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2Ti 1:7 (MKJV)
A sound mind requires a sound foundation. And the one whom our Creator appointed to be our Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is that foundation. As He said, “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.” Mt 7:24
Because our Father wants us to have a sound mind/ sound judgment/ self-control/ self-discipline, His son invites us, “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Mt 11:28) And that is the basis for Paul’s pointing out to those who had accepted the invitation, “…we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Co 2:16b
And this until we all come into the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; so that we no longer may be infants, tossed to and fro and carried about by every wind of doctrine, in the dishonesty of men, in cunning craftiness, to the wiles of deceit. Eph 4:13-14
